Just minutes from the downtown core, the municipally-owned North Bay Jack Garland Airport is served by several air carriers and charter operators with daily flights to Toronto, Ottawa and Sudbury. This provides national and international connector service for North Bay and other Northern Ontario communities.
North Bay Airport's ICAO identification code is CYYB.
The North Bay Airport is certified by Transport Canada for day and night, IFR, and VFR operations. The main 10,000 foot runway is serviced by a parallel taxiway for efficient airport operations. Our Category 1 Instrument Landing System (ILS), and Flight Service Station attract and accommodate a diverse range of aircraft. The pavement load rating (PLR) will carry anything that flies, from light trainers to wide-bodied planes such as the Boeing 747 and Antonov 124. With generous noise exposure forecasts (NEF Zones), registered zoning, municipal by-laws, and approach procedures, the airport offers 24-hour unlimited access, with no curfew restrictions.
North Bay offers protected flight test corridors, flight test areas in close proximity to the airport, and dedicated areas for full ground test purposes. This offers an inexpensive alternative for your all-season ground and air test requirements.
Infrastructure at the North Bay Airport was planned, designed, and constructed to meet the rigorous standards and operational requirements of the Department of National Defence. The estimated value of the airfield infrastructure is well over $300 million. North Bay Airport has been exceptionally well maintained with an on-going capital maintenance and expansion program.
At North Bay Jack Garland Airport, Air Canada and Bearskin Airlines operate a number of scheduled flights per day from North Bay to Toronto Pearson International Airport and Ottawa International Airport. Scheduled service is also offered to Sudbury, Timmins, and Sault Ste. Marie.
North Bay Airport is home to Voyageur Airways, a charter company with a full range of aircraft able to service non-scheduled requirements.
The North Bay Jack Garland Airport passenger terminal features a single-level design, prominent restaurant, expanded security screening hold room, additional airline office space, expanded ticket counter space, and unique architectural accents to please travelers from around the world.
North Bay Airport is committed to providing convenient, safe, and accessible vehicle parking facilities at competitive rates. The terminal features a large, mixed-use parking lot to meet the needs of both long term and short term parking customers. In addition there is a covered drop-off area directly in front of the terminal building, providing easy and quick access to both departure and arrival areas.
Taxi and public transit services are available outside the arrivals area. Also, most major car rental agencies serve the airport, with kiosks located at the arrivals area. As with any Canadian city of 54,000 you can expect a full range of hotels, convention facilities, and restaurants throughout the community.
The City of North Bay has a long history as a centre of transportation and communications. Dubbed the 'Gateway to the North' many years ago, today the city is a gateway to the world.
North Bay is strategically located in central Ontario, about 200 miles /340 km north of Toronto. It is located at the intersection of Ontario's major Trans Canada Highway 17 east/west and Highway 11 north/south, rail, telecommunications and airway corridors.
By air, rail, or road, via satellite, fibre optics, cellular, or copper pair, North Bay is a world-class transportation and communications hub that provides excellent opportunities for business investment.
